Wacom Intuos3 Tablet
I really enjoy drawing and one of main gripes with drawing on a computer was always how difficult it was using the mouse. No matter how much time and effort it never felt natural to me to hold for long hours. I’ve been wanting to get a tablet for a very long time. I've finally decided to take the plunge to purchase one last year.
The tablet purchased was the Wacom Intuos3. For those who don't know much about tablets, Wacom is a company specializing in making high quality drawing tablets and are used almost exclusively everywhere by professional artists around the world. The intuos3 range is the flagship non display tablet range from Wacom. It can be purchased in many dimensions and is even offered in wide screen format, all at reasonably low price. The tablets can be purchased at significantly lower than the suggested RRP if you look hard enough in computer catalogues.
Anyway, using the pen instead of the mouse made a huge difference for me. Coloring, drawing and photo editing in Photoshop takes much quicker to do. It is far more intuitive and productive to use a tablet. Those tablets allow 1024 pressure levels, more than enough to create variation in your drawing and coloring when using Photoshop and Corel Painter. The amount of precision obtained also far outdo the mouse when editing photos. If you enjoy drawing or like to do a lot of image manipulation, do yourself a favor and get a tablet. It is worth it. I only wish I’ve purchased one a lot earlier.
