Wii KO'ed faster than you can say uncle

The world's first wii mod chip is beginning to be shipped out today. It's called the wiinja. All that's required is the soldering of five wires. It'll certainly save Wii owners $$$ in terms of buying games but I don't know if you would want to take the plunge into first gen mods. A few question comes to mind...impact on internet capabilities and can this mod be overcome with a simple firmware update? Only time will tell.
