The Wonderful World of Cars
Subaru Impreza WRX MY06 Sedan
How to start in describing the WRX and its iconic status as a typical car for the road boy racer?
The WRX based, on the Impreza range of cars from Subaru is a sparse and plastic view of the world from the inside. It has all the power enabled features you expect in a car except it is unlike the average family car. Firstly there is no anti-terrorist keypad to disarm in a family car unless you like pimping your car for fun. Then there is the bonnet scope that you see as gaze over the steering wheel that gives you only a slight indication of what lurks under the bonnet.
The exterior of the vehicle is typical of any small sedan with only the alloy wheels, spoiler and the bonnet scope to state it has a sporty feel.
All this changes when you turn the key and hear the 2.5 litre boxer engine rumble, and I mean literally rumble. The engine noise is unlike any normal car with its low down burble at idle drawn from its piston placement horizontally rather than vertically.
Taking off in the WRX is a can be a two-pronged affair in which placid and crazy madness intermingle and meet.
The WRX clutch and gearbox is light which caters for all types of drivers, maniac and grandpa-slow. This is further enhanced when the weather turns inclement and showers the roads with a fresh coat of rain. This is when the WRX comes into an element of its own with its all-wheel drive system, combined with the 2.5 litre engine with its braking system. This combination allows you do feats that would amaze and frighten many of your passengers, good or bad. :PCornering in a WRX also is an activity that can only be described as madly defying the laws of physics and gravity with its almost seamless anchor to the road. The engine works well with the all-wheel drive system to create a driving experience that makes you forgot the plastic and sparse interior, and feel the driving dynamics of a superb road handling vehicle.
The WRX has had a tarnished reputation with the multitude of car jackings and popularity with thieves, hence the keypad alarm system to keep insurance premiums down.
Overall the car for its price range combined with the focus on the driving dynamics is the reason it is popular for enthusiasts. The WRX shines for its sheer driving experience and its excellent base for mods for many car lovers.
